A Folk Music home page.
There is an explosion of information about folk music on the net and this site will try to cover the depth and breadth of it. It primarily provides an organized set of pointers to other pages but does include some original material.
This website has been up for over 10 years (ancient in web terms) and its design is definitely early Web 1.0. But hopefully you came here for content, not flash. The site has evolved over the years but its organization is much the same. Most of the links have now been provided by you, the readers of this site. For that I thank you.

The Hiawatha Music Non Profit Corporation
- better known known as the Hiawatha Music Co-op - is a well-established and well-regarded, non-profit organization for the support of traditional American music.
Hiawatha volunteers work hard to provide high-quality traditional-music events an area with an economy greatly affected by declines in the mining and timber industries, the 1996 closing of K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base, and the whimsies of weather and tourism. In 1993, Hiawatha received the Michigan Governor's Art Award, and in May 2006, Hiawatha received the Community Arts Impact Award from the Marquette Arts and Culture Center.

Merriweather Records...
began in 1994 as a small record label with Kathy Reid-Naiman as the sole owner. One children's cassette was produced in the first year. "Tickles and Tunes" was very well received and quickly became a favourite. In 1997 another children's recording was produced, "More Tickles and Tunes", and both titles were manufactured as CDs. That year Arnie Naiman, Kathy's husband joined the company and the first of the Banjo recordings "Five Strings Attached with No Backing" was created. Two years later, two more recordings, were made. Merriweather Records was becoming very well established.
2001 was a turning point for the company. Two projects were started and In the fall of 2006 Kathy produced 2 CDs for Toronto storytellers.
